Caroline Hughes

Caroline is an inspiring teacher, study coach and consultant with over 30 years experience, initially as a Geography teacher and home-tutor and since 2005 as a qualified Specialist Teacher and SENCO working in a variety of schools.

Caroline has a wide knowledge of school and college curriculum subjects, with specific experience of teaching neurodiverse learners including those coping with dyslexia, ADHD and ASD.  After seven successful years working at Oakham School with the small but 'highly effective' Learning Support team (ISI report Nov 2019), Caroline has started her own tuition business for UK and overseas pupils.  Her specialist teaching and assessment skills are extensive and proven to unlock individual learning confidence and attainment for all ages; she also offers professional understanding and practical advice for exam-anxiety and family support.

Working with children and adults in homes, schools, businesses and online, Caroline's 1:1 tutoring rapidly builds their confidence to boost self-motivation and give better control of their learning tasks.  Her friendly, honest and 'can-do' approach ensures that each learner, whether 7, 17 or 70, can engage quickly in tutor sessions, accept feedback and soon feel encouraged by genuine evidence of their progress.  Session planning focuses on supporting essential study and memory skills and targets an individual's current needs as well as aiming to develop a lifelong habit of successful reading, curiosity and learning.  Caroline's tutor sessions include fun when studying but always enable steps of success.

Based in the East Midlands, she also enjoys cookery, painting, landscapes, sailing on Rutland Water (when it's allowed and is sunny!!) and especially online Zoom times with her four grown-up sons, family and friends.
